So the Jackets lost to the Flames last night by a score of 6-3. It was the first game of a road trip for the Jackets. I haven't verified this on the schedule yet, but I think 7 of the Jackets first 10 games are road games. Ouch.
I was watching the game on TV and had high hopes after the second period. Then it all fell apart. Final score: 6-3. I found myself getting angry as I always do after a Blue Jackets loss. I can't help it. I hate it when they lose. However, I was trying to keep things in perspective. Difficult to do, but I tried. Here's what I thought:
If at the start of the season, someone said to me "The Blue Jackets play 7 of their first 10 games on the road. If you sign this paper, I will guarantee that the Jackets will be 5-2 after their first seven games. All you have to do is sign here. Or, if you choose not to sign this paper, you will be leaving everything to fate, just like you would normally do every season."
My response would be "give me a pen."
Okay so we had a bad game. Jackets fans, we still need to be happy about our team's 5-2 start. Let's just hope that they can win a couple on this road trip before heading home. Sure 6-1 sounds a lot better, but we (or at least I) have to realize that the Jackets are not going to win every game this year. After their road trip, if they are 7-3 or 6-4, that is still a good start to the year.
So, I have to keep things in perspective. What a task that is. For the record, this post was more of a reminder for me rather than a suggestion for others. I was not insinuating that there are people out there saying the sky is falling because of one loss.
On to the next game! Go Jackets!
